It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Derek Alan Gilby on May 31, 2026, at the age of 56. Born in Halifax on January 21, 1970, Derek was the beloved son of Bruce Gilby of Elmsdale and the late Cheryl Hilton. Affectionately known as "Deke" to his family, friends, and colleagues, Derek was a man whose quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering devotion to those he loved left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
