MFRS Instructor Caricatures

The illustrations featured on this page are taken from Girvan Harrison’s book So Ya Wanna Be a Ranger? and drawn by retired Parks NB Program Coordinator, and friend of the institution, Ian Smith. Originally created as lighthearted caricatures, these sketches capture the distinctive personalities, quirks, and larger-than-life presence of some of our past instructors. Rather than formal portraits, they were meant to celebrate the spirit, humour, and camaraderie that defined their time with us. For many alumni, these drawings offer a fun and nostalgic glimpse back at familiar faces who shaped our training, challenged us in the field, and left a lasting mark on our experiences. They invite us to smile, remember shared stories, and appreciate the character and community that have always been at the heart of our program.
